⛺⛺COMMUNITY LIVING CAMP⛺⛺

As part of our B. Ed curriculum we felt the need to organize a community living camp in our college. It is an opportunity for the student teachers to develop critical thinking about various social and educational issues. The outcome brings in self- identities, self -worth, self -esteem ,leadership and self- respect ,build personal competencies.

The theme of our community living camp is WOMEN EMPOWERMENT, WOMEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP, WOMEN LEADERSHIP and WOMEN HEALTH AND HYGIENE. The name of our camp is AVAL.


Day - 1

The first day of the ‘Aval’ Community Living Camp held on 15/10/2025 at Jameela Beevi Memorial College of Teacher Education began with great enthusiasm. The camp was inaugurated by Smt. Priya Y., Assistant Inspector, Kayamkulam, and the day’s theme was “Women Empowerment.” A theatre workshop led by Mr. Sajith N.S., Assistant Professor, Christ College, Irinjalakuda, inspired teacher trainees to build confidence, leadership, and determination. Students actively participated in organizing various camp activities — Group Jwala presented cultural programs, Group Samashti handled stage decoration and documentation, Group Neethri maintained cleanliness, and Group Hygeia prepared delicious food. The day ended on a lively and inspiring note, fostering unity, enthusiasm, and a spirit of empowerment among all participants.

Day - 2

The second day of the AVAL COMMUNITY LIVING CAMP focused on Women Entrepreneurship. The day began with a yoga session by Sreelekshmy and Surabhi, followed by breakfast and news reading. After lunch, we attended a community living programme “സംരംഭകയോടൊപ്പം” led by eco-friendly farmer Vani V, which was very informative. Later, after tea and rehearsals, cultural programs began, including a name-revealing dance (“SAMASHTI”), comedy skit, ramp walk, and TV show — all entertaining, especially the skit. Groups efficiently handled their duties: Group 4 – cleaning, Group 1 – cooking (fish curry), and Group 3 – documentation and stage duty. It was a fun and enriching day.
Day - 3

The third day of the AVAL COMMUNITY LIVING CAMP focused on Women Leadership. The day began with a Zumba session by Rumaisa and Sandra, followed by breakfast and news reading. After lunch, we attended the community living programme “ദിശനിർണയം” by Niyas Shereef Sir, which was very inspiring. Post tea break, we visited the Kayamkulam Fire Station and learned about fire safety and prevention. Cultural programs followed, beginning with a name-revealing dance (“NETHRI”), skit, drama, ramp walk on women leaders, and a thrilling gothic drama. Groups carried out their duties well — Group 1 handled cleaning, Group 2 cooked fried rice and chili chicken, and Group 4 managed documentation and stage duty. It was an enjoyable and inspiring day celebrating women’s leadership.

Day - 4

The fourth day of the Aval Community Living Camp focused on Health and Hygiene. The day began with a lively Zumba session by Surabhi and Sreelekshmi, followed by breakfast and a news reading by Group 4. After lunch, Mrs. Sibi Thomas, PSS Counsellor, conducted an engaging session titled “സുഖമനസ്സ്” on health and well-being. A medical check-up by the Kayamkulam Health Centre followed, which was greatly appreciated.

Evening programs included a name-revealing dance (“Hygeia”), a spot cooking competition, a skit, and a fun “Big Boss” act, ending with a ramp walk and mesmerizing dance. The campfire created a joyful, bonding atmosphere. Duties were efficiently managed — Group 3 (Nethri) handled cooking (ghee rice and chicken curry), Group 2 (Samashti) managed cleaning, and Group 1 (Jwala) oversaw stage and documentation. It was a memorable and enriching day filled with health awareness, fun, and teamwork.
Day -5 

The fifth and final day of the Aval Community Living Camp was held on 19 October 2025. The day began with breakfast followed by a news reading session. The highlight of the morning was the college music band program “Rock n Roll,” which filled the atmosphere with energy and enthusiasm.
Following the musical event, teachers and students shared their reflections and memorable experiences from the camp, expressing gratitude and joy for the wonderful days spent together. The camp concluded with a delicious traditional Sadhya prepared by all the teachers, marking a perfect and heartwarming end to the five-day camp. It was a day filled with music, memories, and togetherness — a fitting conclusion to an unforgettable community living experience.
